Top 5 Wednesday: Books I Want to Read by the end of 2016

T5W: Books I Want to Read by the End of 2016

Hello good people of the Internet!

I feel a little guilty that my last post on here was also a Top 5 Wednesday, but, hey, two T5Ws in two weeks? I’m in!

This week’s topic is “Books You Want to Read Before The End of the Year,” and boy do I have a ton that I could list off! But, in the spirit of Top 5 Wednesday, I narrowed my selection down to five for you all.

Ruby by Cynthia Boyd1. Ruby by Cynthia Bond
I first heard about this book from Jen Campbell, one of my favorite Booktubers, and immediately purchased it after I heard her speak about it! Ruby follows, well, Ruby, a young girl faced with a great deal of trauma and violence in her young girlhood. This leads her to run away from home at an early age and return as a thirty-year-old woman, forced to face her dark upbringing.

You are2. You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero
I’ve heard so many great things about this book from so many people! I intended to read it during the Booktube-a-Thon but didn’t manage to get around to it. You Are a Badass is a book comprised of encouragement, exercises, and lessons on how to embrace your natural greatness.

bc-chains3. Chains (The Seeds of America Trilogy) by Laurie Halse Anderson
I absolutely adore Laurie Halse Anderson! The only books of hers I’ve read are Speak and Wintergirls, two of my all-time favorite books, so I have very high hopes for her other work! Chains is the first book in a series following Isabel, a young black girl enslaved during the Revolutionary War, as she tries to attain her freedom.

136440554. Opposition: Special Collector’s Edition (A Lux Novel) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I’ve read the first four books of the Lux series and have absolutely loved each and every one. That being said, I am absolutely the worst at finishing series, so I’ve been waiting for a while to get to this one. Hopefully I’ll be able to get to this by the end of the year! I won’t give you a summary of this specific book in order to avoid spoilers, but the series follows Katy, a high schooler who moves to a new middle-of-nowhere town with her mom… next door to a family of aliens… including a very attractive alien named Daemon.

The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer5. The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer
If you haven’t already heard about this book, are you living under a rock? Amy Schumer’s recently released memoir has been the talk of the internet, within both book communities and general social media communities alike.I adore Amy Schumer and everything she stands for, so naturally I purchased the book as soon as it came out. I’ll probably get to this one before the others on this list, but figured I’d put it on here so I could definitely check off one of these by the end of the year! 🙂

That’s all for now! Down in the comments below, let me know a book that you’re hoping to read by the end of the year.

Until next time,
Abby
